West flies from Phoenix, Arizona and Sacramento, California. Continental
and American fly directly from Texas, Houston and Dallas respectively.
Aeromexico and Mexicana offer many other alternatives from parts of
the U.S., Mexcio and Central America. |
| In the airport, many international rental companies rent
cars to incoming tourists. You do not need a Mexican driver's license
to drive, although an international driver's license would be useful.
There are also an abundance of taxis and shuttle buses waiting to take
you to your hotel, but be sure to agree on a rate before you begin your
trip. Around town, you can join an organized tour to see some of Acapulco's fabulous sites. Taxis seem to appear out of nowhere just when you need one and there is a good local bus network with the destination marked on the windshield. The coastal area is condensed enough to walk to many of the excellent restaurants and nightclubs. Another romantic alternative is the vibrantly decorated horse-drawn carriages. |
