| Beginning at the airport and stretching north, Acapulco
Diamante offers newer luxury developments and is home to many vacation
rentals and timeshare properties. Just north of this area is the main
resort area of Acapulco Dorado where palm-lined La Costera avenue is
dotted with modern hotels,
sophisiticated dining,
high-tech nightclubs
and a wide array of shops.
Further north of this area, Peninsula de la Playa offers a more laid
back tourist scene. This area is also home to La
Quebrada where the daring cliff divers strut their stuff
and Isla de Roqueta. Most people speak at least some English in Acapulco; however, you will hear a lot of Spanish being spoken as well. Credit cards and the dollar are accepted at many shops and restaurants and there are ATMs on the Plus and Cirrus systems and money changers sprinkled throughout town. |
