| On the north side of the island, Montego Bay
is home to most of the island's large resorts with many expansive all-inclusive
resorts lining its shores. There are a variety of well-preserved
historical sites dotting the area and some interesting crafts
markets. East of Montego Bay, near Ocho Rios,
is Dunns River Falls. This series of limestone tiers
spill cool fresh water down to the ocean in a cascade of flowing steps.
Visitors can climb down the tiers enjoying the cool waterfalls and splashing
in the fresh water pools. On the south side of Jamaica, outside of the
capital city, Kingston, Black River offers interesting
tours of its mangrove forests, which are home to unique species of birds
and alligators. The island's interior offers some spectacular lush jungle
scenery and backroads through somewhat unspoiled villages. |
