| The culture in the Caribbean is a unique mix of the many
cultures that have inhabited the islands throughout
history including the Ciboneys and the Indians tribes from
South America, the European colonists and the African slaves they brought
with them. Each island's culture is directly influenced by the country
which colonized them. Almost all of the islands have a strong African
influence that is present in the art, music, dance and customs. The Caribbean climate is one of the most temperate in the world with year-round temperatures ranging from an average high of 81 degrees to an average low of 72 degrees. The southern islands can get slightly warmer. The constant breezes provided by the tradewinds cool the islands down considerably. This warm, wet climate creates the perfect environment for the Caribbean's lush tropical foliage. There are many nature reserves and forests throughout the islands. |
