 Barbados
has long been a favorite in the mass tourism circuit. Maintaining
quite a bit of British influence, Barbados has wide streets lined
with proper houses and pristine gardens. Football (soccer for Americans)
is a favorite local pastime as well as cricket. But, Barbados also
has a distinctly Caribbean feel as its surrounding natural elements
would require. |
| As with most islands in the Lesser Antilles, Barbados'
west and south beaches
offer the best snokeling
and scuba diving due to the calmer waters. Unfortunately,
this also means this side of the island is much more built up and commerical.
Away from the beaches, Barbados offers a glimpse of its traditional
culture at the Tyrol
Cot Heritage Village. For a look at
the English history of the island, visit some of the interior's sugar
cane plantations. At Harrison's
Cave, take a tram
tour to view the fantastical rock formations and underground
waterfalls. Barbados' incredible beaches and scuba diving have made
