Caribbean town from the waterThe Caribbean islands hold some of the world's most vast and unique natural and manmade attractions. Originally inhabited by several Indian groups from South America and eventually being colonized by the Europeans who brought African slaves, you can imagine the broad range of architecture and artistic influence that surrounds the islands.
Puerto Rico holds the Caribbean National Forest, El Yunque, which offers visitors incredible trekking and rainforest scenery. This islands is also home to Rio Camuy Cave which hosts the world's third largest subterranean river. In Barbados, Harrison's Cave is nearly a mile long and is home to a 40-foot subterranean waterfall. The nearby Barbados Wildlife Reserve hosts a wide variety of endemic species including the green monkey. Another fantastic, if very well known, site is Dunn's River Falls on Jamaica with its stair-step waterfalls and rainforest surrounds. St. Lucia's Pitons offer a dramatic backdrop for its sulphur springs.
Man-made attractions include the Arawak petroglyphs and plantation houses on St. Kitts; the island cultural center of Tyrol Cot Heritage Village on Barbados; and El Morro Fort on Puerto Rico.
