| Tucked into the narrow cobblestone streets of Nepal's
capital city, Kathmandu, there are an amazing amount
of saced and historical sites as well as some incredible shopping
and dining heavily influenced by the large Tibetan population.
Across the river in Patan, Durbar Square
is a fine example of Newari architecture with its intricately carved
structures. The third city in the Kathmandu Valley, Bhaktapur,
remains the most intact and provides visitors with a good glimpse of
what Kathmandu looked and felt like decades ago. In western Nepal, the
town of Pokhara offers stunning views of the Himalayas
reflected in its lake. Pokhara has a nice village atmosphere with many
small hotels and restaurants dotting the lake. This is where treks begin
for the Annapurna Circuit. In the warm plains to the
south, The Terai hosts Royal Chitwan National
Park where visitors can take elelphant
treks in search of endangered rhinos and tigers. |
