Fatty's Burgers & More, San Antonio
It’s hard to resist a hamburger joint
that’s brutally honest enough to call itself Fatty’s, so we didn’t even try. The Destination Guide has named Fatty’s the Best Burgers in San Antonio. Out of a completely renovated (and unmistakably yellow) building downtown, Fatty’s is serving up mouthwatering burgers smothered in everything from mushrooms to chili. If you’re really hungry, try the Lineman, a 2-pound burger for $20; or go for the Heisman — cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, mustard, ham and pickles. If you’re not in the mood for meat, Fatty’s also serves hot dogs, chicken wings, chili, even a (cough, cough) chicken salad. But if you are in the mood for meat, welcome to hamburger heaven. Columbus wins
Congratulations to the businesses representing Columbus in The Destination Guide’s Ann Arbor vs. Columbus competition. DK Diner and Annehurst Veterinary Hospital led the charge
as Columbus topped Ann Arbor by more than 1,000 views. The week-long contest coincided with the Ohio State/Michigan game, which Michigan won 40-34. Even though the game is over, the videos will remain, so head to the Ann Arbor vs. Columbus link and check them out!
Ann Arbor coming on!

Pizza House, Angelo’s and Arbor Dog Daycare are leading a comeback charge
for Ann Arbor in the Ann Arbor vs. Columbus showdown prior to the big game this Saturday. They’ve got until Saturday morning to bring Michigan back. Can they do it, or will the Buckeyes hold them off? It could come down to the wire, so follow the Ann Arbor vs. Columbus link and support your school by watching the videos!
Rein's Deli, Connecticut
The Destination Guide has voted Rein’s Deli the Best Deli in Connecticut. Bob Rein opened the New York-style deli more than 35 years ago — with wife, Betty, and brother, Bernie — because he couldn’t find any place to get a good corned beef sandwich. Turned out he wasn’t the only one in search of authentic Jewish soul food. The Vernon restaurant makes everything from consomme with matzoh balls or kreplach to kosher knockwurst
with kraut. For the uninitiated, they even offer a food glossary. Learn more at http://vernon.reinsdeli.com.
Michigan (Ann Arbor) vs. Ohio State (Columbus)
The University of Michigan enters next weekend’s annual match-up against Ohio State with tons of momentum following a 45-17 blowout of Nebraska. OSU comes off a close loss to Penn State and Urban Meyer rumors in the air. Well … throw that all out the window, because this is rivalry week, and anything can happen. The game is scheduled for noon, Nov. 26, but The Destination Guide’s contest begins today! The city with the most views prior to game time wins bragging rights for the next year, regardless of the outcome on the field. So, go to the “Ann Arbor vs. Columbus” link to show your colors.
WLTX Promotes Best of Columbia
CBS affiliate WLTX showed up at The Holiday Inn and Suites last week to report on the hotel’s nomination as The Destination Guide’s Best Hotel in Columbia. The TV station’s headline for the story reads: “8 Midland businesses given ‘Best of” award” and quotes Raven Yonemura of the Holiday Inn. Check out the piece at http://www.wltx.com/news/story.aspx?storyid=157382.
Tic Toc gets some press
The Destination Guide’s Best Candy Shop in Columbia is getting some much-deserved attention. As a result of its nomination as Best of Columbia, Tic Toc Candy Shoppe received a visit from Carolina News (follow this link to watch the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1O9oQ2RWj4&feature=related). If you happen to be in Columbia, head down to Five Points to satisfy your sweet tooth. Otherwise, be sure to watch their video under the Columbia tab.
Creatures Cafe, Asheville
The Destination Guide has named Creatures Cafe the Best Hangout in Asheville. The 18-and-over cafe and concert venue offers a fresh alternative to the nightclub scene. Creatures has created a laid-back, alcohol-free environment where guests can listen to live music, dance or enjoy one of the cafe’s signature “mocktails.” Creatures is a not-for-profit organization founded in the city of
Asheville to bring residents together through Christian entertainment. But if you’re just interested in good music and Open-Face Cheesy Melts, that’s OK, too. Learn more at http://www.creaturescafe.com/.
Lux Salon, Best of Raleigh
Congratulations Lux Salon, winner of The Best of Raleigh competition! More than 2,000 fans viewed Lux’s video in a month, besting Suite Paws Pet Resort & Spa by a narrow margin. Opened by four sisters who migrated from Long Island to Raleigh, Lux’s team of stylists is led by sister Deborah Richards. The salon has made a name for itself by creating a warm, friendly environment and by employing top-notch stylists who keep up with the latest trends. “The Destination Guide video competition was a lot of fun for our staff, clients and fans!” says sister Chrissy Sopina. “We enjoyed every minute of our Lux Salon segment, and we are so thrilled to have won the Best of Raleigh competition.
